The island of Koh Lanta is an hour speed boat from our previous stop, Phi Phi Island. Koh Lanta is a much larger island (about 45 min drive from north to south) and very quiet. It was nice to have a few relaxed days with pretty great weather. When we arrived off the speed boat, we ran into two friends from Phi Phi – Sascha and Caren. Sascha organized a group of backpackers to motor bike around the island for the few days our travels aligned, making for an adventurous few days with many new friends.

We began our motor bike exploration of the island in Old Town!
Lukas (in the maroon shirt) ended up running into us in northern Thailand, later in the trip! The connections with other backpackers so far on the trip has been a huge highlight.
We explored the lighthouse at Koh Lanta National Park:
The next day we went into the jungle to find a bat cave and waterfall:
Stopped for a smoothie on the side of the road with a great view:
Then watched the sunset before our island friend group would all go our separate ways the following day:
Our next stop is Khao Sok National Park – a few hours drive north:
