Bangkok, Thailand

October 22 – 24, 2025

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, has many temples throughout the city making for easy sightseeing as we viewed various Buddhas and intricate temple designs.

We found a tuktuk driver to take us to a few landmark spots. This is the standing Buddha at Wat Intharawihan:

Wat Pho temple:

Resting Buddha at Wat Pho:

There is a Thai massage school at the Wat Pho temple with a 30 min massage coming in around $8. This is Thailand’s first official massage school. Everyone is basically lying down on a big pad next to each other:

Temple of Wat Arun:

Pad Thai, of course!

So many mango dessert options in Thailand! This restaurant only served mango related dishes like smoothies and mango sticky rice:

Tuktuks are the most fun way to get around Bangkok

Wat Phra temple, inside the Grand Palace, houses the Emerald Buddha (made of jade). The Emerald Buddha is actually quite small compared to other Buddhas, but its history makes it special. We couldn’t take any photos inside of the Emerald Buddha.

Dinner in Bangkok – about $3.50 per person!

We went to a Muay Thai fight in Bangkok. Muay Thai is a form of martial arts, kind of like a Thai version of boxing. Fighters can use eight limbs – fists, elbows, knees, and shins. This is the largest Muay Thai stadium in Thailand.

As we were headed out, I ran into two classmates from Bowdoin – how crazy!
