Kobe, Japan

November 18 – 23, 2025

Arrived in Japan and linked back up with my Dad! We had a blast staying at the Oriental and enjoying an extended break from hostels while exploring Kobe. Traveling relatively quickly between countries has been fascinating as we are jumping in and out of different cultures, and the respect and courteousness part of Japanese culture is really amazing. We explored Kobe during the day, linked up with my Dad for dinner and drinks at night, and went down to Hiroshima/Miyajima Island one day.

Cool vibe in the hotel:

Lots of small bars and restaurants along back alleys:

Our first shrine!

Thrifting is very popular in Kobe:

Ichiran Ramen – a famous chain that involves solo dining facing a window where food is ordered via a piece of paper and delivered:

Of course we had to have some espresso martinis!

The Herb Garden in Kobe is a beautiful park/garden overlooking the city and water – there is currently a Christmas market.

First 7-Eleven rice ball!

Tried all sorts of sushi:

The last day in Kobe we went to a Kobe beef dining experience – my first time having beef in probably 8-9 years! It was a fabulous experience, though, and the steak was very special.

Had to try the special laundry service with my clothes folded with paper lining and individually wrapped!

Late night pizza run with Brian and my Dad before he heads back to the US for Thanksgiving. Brian and I will continue on in Japan and South Korea before heading back to the US before Christmas.
