Hiroshima & Miyajima Island, Japan

We did a day trip on the Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train system) from Kobe down to Hiroshima & Miyajima Island. We were lucky to have amazing fall weather to explore the island and to visit the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima.

After we arrived in Hiroshima, we took a ferry to Miyajima Island:

We opted to hike to the top rather than wait in line for the gondola:
