December 5 – 10, 2025
Catching up on my last few stops!
We took a bus from Fujikawaguchiko to Tokyo and caught the last bit of moderate fall weather. Tokyo was energetic and bustling (as expected) compared to Fujikawaguchiko, and it was a blast! We had great sushi, saw a famous DJ show, had some unique bites, and saw incredible cityscapes.
Stepped off the bus and into the rush of Tokyo – the station was PACKED with people pushing to get themselves inside the car:

Walking around the first afternoon in Tokyo:

Conveyor belt sushi!

Golden Gai area in Shinjuku with lots of small spots along the alleys:

Super fun concert our first night:

Shibuya crossing at night:

We visited TeamLabs – it’s an interactive museum with installation across the world, but each is unique to the city:

Tokyo Tower lit up at night:

Ice cream parfaits on the first floor of our hostel!

Hamarikyu Gardens:

Snacks at the top of the Asahi beer HQ tower:

The ‘hole-in-the-wall’ bars in Golden Gai hold 6-8 people, and the karaoke bar we joined was previously visited by Katy Perry!

Sensล-ji temple:

Brian was stoked about this baseball simulator – rather than just a ball machine, there is a video of a pitcher lined up with the ball being thrown:

Goodbye to our Tokyo hostel – next stop, Seoul!
